Made a small video from yesterdays fail raid, we lost against stairs (bad game design in my opinion)
 

The real problem is whitin the raiding mechanic, you should be able to raid workstations whitout breaking them, only chest should be locked but should be harder to break, or lockpick . thralls should have like a slave master to respawn them, long time cost tho, unless the raiders club them and bring them back to their base to re-breakthem, and building and destroying should be impossible if there is a player, who is not part of the clan, whitin the claim raidus, of that base. You still could destroy everything in a base to erradicate the clan, but at a much higer cost. and most raiders dont want to destroy, dthey want to get loot or be assholes, so let raiders get loot and prevent them from being assholes so we all can enjoy the fking game!
But for now, if you ban staris removal, peapole will simply build so stairs isnt the issue, but a door haning in the air whitout a platform infront of it, possible to break mabye, but so is falldamage... so the no removal of stairs rule whoudnt "fix" anything, just make it harder to actualy see the real problem... Also DUVaN has a good point on this subjekt.  And avatars, just make it so if one of the gods get summoned, have that god on cooldown for something like a week or three days mabye..(For everyone on the server on that specific god) tre miniutes of carnage once or twice per week might just be refreshing

Agree with you Duvan, just stuipd that you can be immune to rading.

We are not assuming anything. We are just talking about the way we would like to use them. I respect the decision made by the GMs. I think they are doing a good job on the server. I just want to have my opinion heard. You can never protect against griefers and offline raiders. Nothing have changed on that part now either. I just think we should have let the develepors balance stuff out. Now a huge element is lacking in my opinion.
You need a clan to be able to spawn avatars in an hour or so. And used right we could have some nice pvp going with Avatars aswell.
 

Thanks for testing. I have not tested this myself, but I think it might be possible to attack your own stair with a steel sword to low hp and thus making it disappear alot quicker

People seem to believe that raiding in Conan without avatars is impossible, so me and Wurre decided to do some testing.

We built the most common build using stairs. We used the lowest tier of stairs (sandstone) and the highest tier 3 on everything else.
The sandstone stairs only have 700 HP and the t3 door got 2500 HP (i know it says window but it's the door! Alpha game)

You may think that if an explosive is placed infront of a door on stairs, the stairs would break before the door does. But this is not the case.
The AOE damage from the explosive is so weak that the stairs barely lost any HP at all.

This is seriously how i feel when i play conan xD
 
 

Why would you not be able to online raid someone using a raiding tower? Why does everyone assume avatars were going to be used when the defending party was online? You'd get situations where several clans log in to see their entire base destroyed to the last foundation, since avatars are cheap and easy to get/use and they destroy shit fast, really fast.

There are still other ways of raiding bases if you put in the time and effort. Having a cheap avatar that takes an hour or three at the most to summon come over and destroy EVERYTHING you worked for in less than a minute is ludicrous.

We have decided to turn the avatars off. 

The reason we do this is cause of the destruction they're able to do.
We feel that avatars makes everyhing else irrevelant in this game.
Its easier to farm up and get an avatar than it is to raid someone with explosives.
A lvl 50 player could build a little hut, summon a avatar, and raid whoever they wanted without anything to loose.
It dossent matter how much you build, how much you farm. You cant protect yourself from the avatar, and everything u worked for would be gone in seconds.

With avatars off however, the farm will be worth farming again.
Build strong bases. Make it expensive to raid using explosives.
It would bring new meaning into the game. Then you have a reason to build a base, then you have a reason to use t3 walls instead off t1/t2.

When using an avatar it dosen't matter if you have t1 or t3, it dosent matter how hard you worked on your base.

Atm we just feel that its all just to unbalanced. When avatars are more neutralised to the rest of the gamemechanics and there is a way to fight/win/deffend against an avatar we will deffenetly turn them on again.

We understand that some off you do not agree with us on this, and we dont blame you.
Our goal is and will always be to the keep this server as active, fun and fair as long as possible.

Completely agree. Right now avatars are way way cheaper than explosives, all you need is level 50 and everyone will get there eventually. Even if you get raided it's very easy to get back to the point where you can get an avatar, whilst getting enough explosives for a tier 3 base is a much longer grind.
Devs need to balance this asap to be honest, it's ridiculous. 
 
 

Its a Vanilla server but you want to remove the avatars - thats a part off the game as I see it. This should have been decided long time ago, when the server started. Now I am sure that some people have been leveling and getting stuff to summon a avatar...thats like taking candy from a kid. I do however think it should be really really expensive to summon one. 
 
I see the issue admins fear - server dies. Well, that is a risk yeah sure, that is a risk at all pvp servers. Some people cant take beeing wiped, hopefully people wont spawn avatars on a daily basis all over the map. Whats ironic though - this subject start to appear when many off the people whom have been harrased starts to close in on lvl 50. Are the people daily raiding afraid off payback? That they all the sudden can loose their stuff? 
 
And no, bases wont be unraidable for much longer, there will come stuff in the patches to help with that.

I feel we need to implement a new rule when it comes to raiding.
You should only be allowed to destroy what you need to get in and get to the loot. This means any doors or walls that are in your way are fair game (taking into account explosive radius of course), but don't destroy the entire base. Building new crafting stations, tools and such is a fairly easy thing to do, but it's in general very demoralising to see your entire base gone, and it usually makes people quit.
We're here to have fun, and part of that is having people around to actually play with, not making everyone quit.
 
More of a 'Dont be an asshole' rule I guess.
 

Even if you would enforce a rule of keeping the stairs it would be in most cases pointless. Most people would just put a door after a stair meaning the stair would collapse by any explosives put by the door.
In my mind currently there are 2 options for the unraidable base problem.
1) Wipe the server, make a rule saying "No sky bases", the base must be accessible through ground level of sorts.
2) Wait till the devs release raiding tools to breach sky bases

Personally I think Avatars bring way too much destruction for the cost for the summon. The price? T3 altar, T3 Priest, ~400 humans farmed. Sure, you might be unlucky with the archpriest spawn but other than that we are talking about just a few hours of farm for a singel player.
The destruction? You'll wipe out weeks worth of base building. 
Not sure how meta plays out with alot of people being level 50 but my guess is there wont be alot of huge bases anymore. Not even sure if a tribe will persist through beeing wiped clean by avatars.
I suppose the counter argument is that without avatars we have unraidable bases and that is true. But I think for the greater health of the server it would be better without avatars.

Just remeber that if u decide to turn the radius up again, it will wreak havoc on buildings and areas that has conflicted ownership.

IMHO, people shouldnt be restrained from something like stair removal, one of the main ideas of having a base in this game means its YOUR base to do with as you please, its your personal area, and having a rule about how to build and manage it kind of breaks the immersion, and anyhow with Trebuchet coming soon removin stairs wont help you getting smacked.
