So it turns out that right now the weight of the quetz is a bit wonky. Carrying an ankylo that is smashing metal will not increase the weight of the bird right away. The weight will update after about 10-15 minutes. This is enough time to gather around 1000-1500 metal ore with a high damage ankylo. 
 
Hulk and I managed to farm 1500 metal ingots in less than an hour doing this, we just farmed on the slopes and foots of the mountins. Also, if you dont manage to get back to your base in time you can drop the ankylo and catch it on the platform, and this will not increase the weight of the quetz. Just a protip!

I would like to know everyones oppinoin on building Turrets around Metal. personally i think its not that cool especially for people that cant farm metal that well on their own.
to build Turrets on a mining base to protect it sure but around the metal is like building in a cave 

Well i still think its more or less like building in a cave soon there will be Turrets all over all the mountain so no one exept big tribes can get metal.. ofcourse people should protect their farming base but to stop people from farming? some people dont have the kind of resources to get to another mountain
