Sounds about right, that is also what makes this kind of game unique, you´re never safe and you have to rely on Politics and good manners to have an easier time to stay alive. 

This promotes good relations, helping eachother and getting to know eachother.

It´s a world that constantly changes, you´re never safe, one second you´re talking to persons next to you and the next second they´ve turned on you and hunts you down with their dinos. 

This is the thrill of the game, a constant fear cuz you´re never really in control of the situation, anything can happend. 

Just as stated, adapt to your power situation will keep you going for a while longer. 

The downside of the game is that you might limit yourself of doing irl things and give you nightmares due to the fact the next time you login you base might be gone. 

This is also the positive thing, it rewards you for the time you put into the game and trying to take someone down for a big reward is also a big risk that might be your downfall.
