Reason: We engaged a couple of gas station robbers just as a hunter pulls up. We engage the police and manage to kill one, the other police escape and flee from their vehicle, as we're trying to persue them, [TU] Caden starts circling Hano in a trolling fashion with his vehicle. Hano tells [TU] to leave/stop and continues persuing the police. Later i'm opened fire upon by [TU] Xeloth. Note that [TU] has said absolutly nothing to us in this engagement, the ONLY words spoken was Hano telling Caden to leave.

Sending someone into a fight with no gear and a truck boxer to troll someone into KoS is against the rules according to me. It's also lack of RP.
The following "KoS" you had on us is thereby not legitimate according to my interpretation of the rules. I could be wrong of course, and then we'll start doing this as well...seems like a lovely behaviour that can only add to the dynamics of the server.....

I think the current rules regarding this should be changed to this:

Co-operation between gangs and civilians is forbidden unless the following criteria is met:

    - You are farming together
    - You are providing security to an area before it's attacked
    - You are doing other defensive things (Talking/Racing/guiding)

This should allow for a safer altis where civilians are able to bunch up and join forces in an effort to reduce robberies. It will also make
for new jobs protecting civilians and on top of that it will make robberies more challenging.

But, the largest advantage will undoubtably be that we're able to keep more of the new players without them quitting in frustration!

First of all, this will be written in English since i want everyone to be able to understand it. If replies are directed at me specifically you may reply in Swedish should you want to.

This post wil be regarding the current meta of the server, what i think is wrong and what i think could change. Should you disagree with what i've said you can post and tell me why, but i will not reply to random spoutings that are handled in the post itself. Meaningful discussions however is much appriciated.

With that said, let me begin (Against my better judgement i might add since i think the replies here will more be in the line of "if you don't like it leave", but alas we shall see.

Starting out on CvGaming's Altis Life RPG server was wonderful! It was my first time ever playing Altis and to find a Swedish community this large was really sweet. I loved the game from the start because i love making money for some weird reason, but only in games and not real life to my wallets discontent. The system of Altis in general, making money, working for your stuff, buying uppgrades had the same addictive scent as many of the phonegames or webbrowser games (I.E Utopia for those that know wtf that is) i've loved for such a long time, but actually playing it.

Soon i discovererd the alternative side of people though as i was robbed time and time again whilst chugging along my life copper route. I didn't mind this though, robbing is in the game and as such it should be part of the game. It should be a risk that you take whilst playing and something that makes the game more exciting and more dynamic. Shortly after this i had my first run in with NLA, this was at the copper trader and i barely knew my front from my back. So they guided me through how to give up, how to give them my key to my boxer truck, and how to lose everything i had in it. Before this experience i had been robbed a few times, but usually they only took parts of what i had, or left what i had in the truck alone, but this was the first time i lost everything. It was a bittersweet feeling, sweet in the sense that there were active people with agendas on the server, and bitter because i lost everything i had worked so hard for (and avoided robbers finally!). This is where i first expected there to be a systematic flaw in the way the meta worked on this server, but since i was still very new i just let it slide thinking i could probably make money elsewhere, or on their island later on (Albeit it might not be optimal to my hardcore natures displeasure)

Since then, i've learned that it's not just part of part of the servers meta, but actually something that the top gangs aim to intensify even more. This by taking up their own agendas within the roleplay that either aims, or has as a sideeffect, new players being brought back down to 0$ and no vechicles , or close to it. But, instead of simply writing a long ass story about this, i want to go into specifics a bit.

Here are the ways i've tried to make money in the game:

    Apples
    Copper
    Weed
    Diamond
    Salt
    Iron
    Slaves
    Heroin
    Cocain

What's my point of listing all of them here? I just want to show that this is not written after having done one thing and not achieving success. The next thing we can do is make a list of what things are ok with what faction:

    Police are ok with:
All the legal things, such as copper/salt/diamond/iron etc

    NLA are ok with:
All the illegal things, such as weed, cocain, heroin etc

Neither are ok with slaves, and to add to that some gangs have taken it upon themselves to personally make sure that no one does slaves out of moral RP reasons.

Now, let's go through the problematic nature of each of these ways of making money:

Legal ways: The legal ways are actually the safest so far in my opinion. Not that you make any money from it, but at least the people robbing you are usually not as well geared as their drug dealer robbing counterparts, and if you do not give them your key to the car you usually end up keeping it. The major problem here is NLA, NLA activly works to not make people do legal things, i've been held up by them multiple times, losing everything i have (not the vechicle though!) and having to start over. This can happen on any part of the trip (ergo, mine, procesing or dealer) and always ends up with the same thing...losing what you have. But, in all fairness if you go in early in the morning and you are lucky enough to have a good price on copper, you can usually make a few hundred thousand before all the people come online.

Illegal ways: Apart from simply not being as lucerative as the legal options (meaning $/hour, because of a longer distance between mine/processing/dealer and the fee given to NLA for getting in there) you have the same risk of getting robbed at the dealer as the legal counterparts BUT with the added fear that the people that rob you there are usually significantly better geared. This means they have access to lockpicks which means you lose your vechicle.

Slaves: The most bang for the buck i've found so far. If you find your ass a chopper and go back and forth between the slavetrader, you earn about 94k/10 minutes with a humming bird, more than anything else we've tried) The problem with the slavetrader is that everyone has something against it. You have the police that are activly against it, the rebel faction that are activly against it and you have the robbers that you do everywhere else that are out to get your profits. Here you do however have one thing more... some gangs have taken it upon themselves to act against the trading of slaves (RP) and shut down the slavetrade, meaning they set out to catch you doing it.

Still, most of the things said above i agree with, there should be a risk with things and you should have to be sneaky, or work together to accomplish it.

What i do NOT agree with are a few things, and i'll try to list them promptly along with some potential solutions:

The strongest faction on the server, NLA, systematically hinder new players from making money (Since legal ways are the only ways available in start before getting licenses or bigger vehicles). They disrupt the atempt to earn money and offer very little back. They could for example offer:

    - Controlled routes where they protect you against robbers, either all the time or certain times of the day (Meaning it adds a lot to the server dynamic)
    - Certain hours where you could freely farm drugs on their country (I can't set my clock on "No NLA members online")
    - An understanding that new players that only own the cheapest truck or a pick up truck has NO WAY of making ANY MONEY driving all the way down to NLA headquarters for a 60 backpack of weed and a 40 of trunk space
    - Avoidance of CAMPING these places. I don't mind that if they fly their chopper and see a helicopter heading in the direction of the slavetraders they decide to follow, or if they happen to stumble across someone doing copper... but camping these places waiting for someone to show up, or activly going out on a "copper run" i find very disruptive.

    Farm hours!

-Some hours where the server "sleeps" that ould be used as a rob free farming time. for example between 4am-8am or something of that nature.
-Police/NLA/Clan sponsored security along a certain route as a server event or certain hours of the day. This way new players could actually count on making some money! OR it'd be a BIG event if someone chose to distrupt it intentionally, where the focus would be on disrupting the event and not robbing a poor boxtruck of copper.
    - *EDIT* Or at least that you're not allowed to take someone's vechicle during these times, only their money/equipment

    Vechicle loss

    - Really, if someone tells you ingame that they just saved up to buy a vechicle, how can you chop shop it? It hasn't happened to me once or twice in the last 4 days, it's happened 10+ times. Vechicles can be lost in so many ways, accidents, server lag. If you see someone that you "know" is new to the game, either they just have starting gear or they tell you so. How can you take everything they've made even when they offer you to pay "hostage money" to get their vechicle back?

    Systematic gang robberies

    - Some of the major gangs on this server do not rob you when they stumble by you. They set in system to follow you and take everything you have (including vechicles) multiple times in a row. This because they know you are new and cannot defend yourself. The only defense you have against this is to sit your ass in one of the cities and do nothing until they get bored. Seems a bit game breaking to me no?

This is getting a bit TL:DR even for me, and my little finger already hurts from flying chopper so much so i'll stop it shortly...

Out of the around 10 players or so i've met and teamed up with that were in my sitaution (newly started out) only 1 remain, the others stopped playing here because it's impossible to get out of poverty

I like this server, i really do, but how about we take a step in the right direction now and make it so that it's possible for new players to join the server and thus the community without the immidiate NEED to join one of the already existing strong gangs

The team that ends up winning the race there will be a six (Maybe even seven) figure cash price in the end. That along with any goodies donated by our kind gangs and factions of Altis!

The race around Altis will be done the following way

A high speed part that measures your ability to control your car at high speeds! Two helicopter part that measures your take off/travel/landing speed and accuracy, along with your knowledge of Altis. An off road part that measures your ability to navigate a dodgy terrain Finishes with a running part where you are to locate an individual after reciving a hint of his whereabouts.
    Rules
Each team must consist of AT LEAST 2 players (and up to 4 players allowed). Each player is only allowed to drive/run a MAXIMUM of 2 out of the 4 possible parts of the race You are allowed to bring as many toolkits as you can carry, and should you run out a designated mechanic will be coming to your assistance as soon as possible Should you die (which I’m sure many might do) you are allowed to spawn at the closest possible spawnpoint and drive/run back to the closest PASSED checkpoint or part of track. This means that if you passed the kavala checkpoint and die 2 meters from Amoni checkpoint, you start over at kavala checkpoint! You are NOT allowed to use any of your own vehicles, any indication that you might have swapped vehicle at any point will result in an immediate disqualification In the unlikely event that no one reaches the final stage of the race alive, the fastest time between kavala and sofia wins. Upon the acceptance of this event, a secondary thread will be created where you apply with your team will be created in the Altis forum. A link will be edited in here : (XXX). For the big gangs there is an entrance fee of 100k per team that will be added to the prizepool, but for non gang affiliated civs there is no entrance fee.

Reason:  We were going to the salt trader before reset with 300+ salt to sell when we noticed a hellicopter flying above a few times. When approaching the salt vendor, I ([APC] Harrison Jones) and the look out chopper we had above ([APC] Andreas! both spotted that 2 people went out the chopper and were heading towards us. I got back into the Hemet and started rolling away slowly, knowing they would not catch up enough to RP and hoping they'd turn back since they had "missed" their chance and we could actually sell our salt before the server reset, then they shot the tire out without any roleplay what so ever. They fired several rounds (10+) without any mic interaction at all and after a bit they came closer and started talking.

Since I lost more than 1.000.000 on the trade i approached them ingame and on teamspeak and told them that if they repaid what we had lost no issue would be filed, they declined, a heated discussion arose and this ban request is the result of it.

(And unfortunatly my mic is yet again not picked up by my shadowplay, sigh, but no communication ingame at all was had with them at any point, only with my gang member in the sky, [APC] Andreas!)

    Hello Luckiiee.
Thanks for an extended post. most delightful.

There are countless hours spent into mapbalancing and the last couple of weeks ive been playing (by myself) as a civilian over and over again to nail any imperfections.
I had a blast and everything worked very well, the ladder worked as intended and the cashflow expanded exponentialy (as intended).
The big issue i noticed tho was gangs robbing people, they had system for it with Scouts, Helicopters and 1-3 mobile teams. this is not map-balance related or similar, this is people who play this game alot or just enjoy being d*cks.
But as Altis Life is not ment to be grinded (there is not enough content in arma3 alone to grind it) there is a big gap where we have some people who just robb (because they have everything else). These people have forgotten the core value of RP and are just doing things they enjoy themself w/o thinking of the big picture.

As a result i have, the last week, been defending apple/peach farmers from Robbers. Granting new players a chance to get a car or two before encountering robb-galore. (As an Admin).

I also ran into NLA a couple of times and i did find it an issue with them showing up at the coppermine. Specially when it occures on the same timeframe everyday.
But there have been frequent meetings highlighting that they should not robb people, rather just have a propaganda tour and supply the people with goodies to shine some light on their agenda.
I was running with a new guy at this time and he was amazed to see the rebels for the first time, so in some occasions it gives a positive reaction to the new players but can be a hassle if you are doing copper alot. But its ment as alittle PR mission from the rebels side im sure. But as everyone else, they are not allowed to stay in one area for more then 15min. And i know we spoke about possible escort services in begining of Januari, on the other hand, i do not know if they are providing them yeat (/spoiler).

Alltho this is not the issue, the issue for me was regular civilians acting like asshats and robbing everything. Even killing me 8 times out of 10 when i did as i was told.
The rest i could manage with and it also created fun RP moments where i forgot about the apples i was picking and enjoy the conversation/happening.
The Cash was never an issue, i always succeeded in getting some cash everyday and made a goal on each and every playsession. But from a gamemechanic view Altis Life is about Cash in/out and RP-scenarios. Atm i felt like it was nailed. if there wasent any robbering that is .

    Anyhows, thoughts and ideas!
I love that you supplied possible solutions aswell, because as i always say (with a hint of "oh hitem, you so funny"):

    Thanks again!

We will ofc bring them all with us for when its time to have a small Factionmeeting.

edit: Just want to add that we have had ideas like eventdays for new people (where admins protect and help the new once to get started) and/or leasing a gang as extra security during specific hours/days and such. Rehauling prices, locations, amount of fields/traders/processers for alternative routes, etc etc. We have had many thoughts on it and we are always greatfull for feedback, its our source ^^.

and yes, i moved your topic to the right subforum 'suggestion and feedback'

First of all, this will be written in English since i want everyone to be able to understand it. If replies are directed at me specifically you may reply in Swedish should you want to.

This post wil be regarding the current meta of the server, what i think is wrong and what i think could change. It will also directly point out flaws and ingame mechanics that are hindering the progression of new characters.
